Our take

The middle of the range and the most adaptable: honey skin reads well under bright and dark clothes alike, which is why our own build-on-a-base examples start here.

What it's good for

Medium skin tones, characters you want to test in several outfits, and first skins, because mistakes in either a light or a dark garment are easy to see against it. It is also a good stand-in body for armour and robes where only the face and hands show.

Design notes

The honey ramp runs from a lifted head top through the main front colour to a darker right side and the deepest back. Brown eyes and an unexpressive mouth leave the personality for you to add. As with every plain body, the overlay layer is completely empty and every base-layer pixel is opaque, so nothing shows through when you paint over it.

Measured palette: the main colour groups in the file, with the share of painted pixels each covers.

Customise it in the editor

  • Paint a plain T-shirt and jeans first, then add a jacket on the overlay so you can hide it with the overlay toggle and check the shirt underneath.
  • Try a bright outfit (yellow, coral, lime): the mid tone keeps the face from washing out next to it.
  • Use Vary shade lightly over a single-colour shirt to give it a fabric texture instead of a flat block.

Open plain base, honey in the editor to try these: it loads on the classic model, and the slim version is one click away too.

Classic or slim?

Opens on Classic. This tone is the one we'd suggest for a first Classic skin; the Slim file is the same body with 3-pixel arms if you want a lighter frame.
