About PixelPelt

An independent, free Minecraft skin editor built to design skins in the browser — and to explain the craft honestly, with nothing to sell you.

What this is

PixelPelt is a free tool for designing Minecraft skins. The editor runs entirely in your browser: you paint a 64×64 skin, watch a live preview, and download a PNG. We pair it with plain design guides written for people who want their skin to look sharp, not just exist. We are independent hobbyists, not a marketplace and not a studio.

Why it stays in your browser

There is no account and no upload. Your artwork is generated and saved locally, which is faster, more private, and works offline once the page has loaded. We think a skin editor should never ask you to sign in to draw a hat.

How we handle facts

Skin formats and game behaviour change between versions, so we date what we publish and cite the source — usually the Minecraft Wiki — rather than repeat folklore. When a detail depends on the version or a mod, we say so instead of stating it flatly. If a step has changed, tell us and we will fix it.

What we will never do

We never link “free Minecoins” generators, account sellers, or scams of any kind. Those target younger players. The only paid things we ever point at are the official Minecraft Marketplace and legitimate Minecoins gift-card resellers, always disclosed.

PixelPelt is an independent fan-made tool. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Mojang Studios or Microsoft. “Minecraft” is a trademark of Mojang Synergies AB; the game and its assets belong to them. Skins you create in the editor are your own work.
