Our take

A dark knight in violet-black plate with gold edging and a closed helm with a glowing visor slit; the most overlay-heavy base in the library.

What it's good for

Villains, dark paladins, mysterious champions and anyone wanting an imposing, faceless silhouette.

Design notes

About 1,120 overlay pixels, more than any other base, cover head, body, arms and legs in obsidian plate drawn with a high-contrast metal pattern so it doesn't go flat. Gold edges the plates, and a narrow amber slit glows across the closed helm. Underneath, a dark undersuit fills the base layer and the face is still painted, so you can open the helm.

Measured palette: the main colour groups in the file, with the share of painted pixels each covers.

Customise it in the editor

  • Change the visor glow to red, green or ice blue with two or three pencil pixels.
  • Open the helm by erasing the overlay head front; the face beneath is already there.
  • Swap the gold edging for silver to make the knight colder.

Open obsidian knight in the editor to try these: it loads on the slim model, and the classic version is one click away too.

Classic or slim?

Opens on Slim, which gives the knight a sleeker, taller-looking frame. Classic makes it more of a tank.
