Minecraft hoodie skin bases

A hoodie is the most-worn outfit on any server, and the easiest to get wrong: without a pocket line, drawstrings or ribbed cuffs, it is just a jumper. These six bases put those details in so you can spend your time on colour and character.

The 6 bases side by side

Measured from the files themselves: how much of the outer layer each design uses, how many distinct colours it has, and its main outfit colour.

What makes a hoodie read at skin size

Three small details do the work. A kangaroo pocket is a darker seam across the lower front of the body. Drawstrings are two light pixels hanging from the neck. Ribbed cuffs and hem are one row of a slightly darker colour at the ends of the sleeves and body. Five of the six bases here have at least two of the three; the zip hoodie swaps the pocket and drawstrings for a zip line and two seam pockets.

The hood is the other choice. Down, it sits on the overlay at the back of the neck and uses very few pixels: about 36 on the pullover. Up, it becomes a shell around the whole head on the hat layer, as on the graphite hoodie, and it changes the character's silhouette more than any colour does.

Customising a hoodie base

All six use a knit pattern for the fabric, which survives recolouring. Fill each tone of the hoodie in turn and the texture comes with it. Keep the rib colour one step darker than your new main colour so the cuffs still show.

For a logo, use the body front between rows three and six, above the pocket. Three to five pixels is enough; anything bigger turns into noise at a distance. If you want the logo removable, paint it on the jacket overlay instead of the base.

To switch between hood up and hood down, copy the approach on these bases: paint the hood on the overlay head for up, or a folded strip on the overlay body back for down. Hiding the overlay in the editor lets you compare the two without repainting.

Every base here is original artwork, free for any use, selling included, with no credit needed. The full terms are on the skin bases page.
